ABOUT THE ART TEACHER
Christy Pritchard
Christie is our art teacher.
After graduating from The National Art School Newcastle and Newcastle University Christy Pritchard spent the next 32 years teaching Visual Arts at Riverside Girls High School in Gladesville, as teacher, Head Teacher Creative Arts and Deputy Principal.
Since retirement Christy has exhibited her own work successfully in Art competitions and in Galleries. She has illustrated 2 family histories and a Children's book. Along with a colleague she tutors Year 12 Visual Art students at a local school and runs workshops for Year 11 Art students in preparation for their Bodies of Work in Year 12.
Christy has previously taught adult Art Classes at The Hub in Waverton and now teaches 2 Adult Art Classes at Chiswick. Her classes are based on the acquisition of skills in drawing and in all forms of painting and make reference to Australian artists as well as those from overseas. She uses a number of unusual and creative techniques to inform her student’s work, resulting in exciting and experimental artworks.
Shirley Bond (Dip Art Ed.)
Shirley is a visiting art teacher. She is a practicing artist with over 40 years of teaching experience in public & private schools including five years as Head of the Art Faculty.
She has taught adult classes, specialising in painting & drawing, both in Australia, UK, Cairo and Hong Kong.
She has participated in many group & solo shows and her works are in private collections in the UK, South Africa, Canada and the USA.​
Her specialty is in pastel drawing, especially pet portraits.
Shirley has extensive experience tutoring people of all ages, levels and ability developing and nurturing their creative potential.
Her tutoring is focused on the creation, development and completion of artworks.
